Kevin De Lao
He studied painting at the National Autonomous School of Fine Arts of Peru between 2014 and 2015. At the end of the same year he traveled to the city of Arequipa. Fascinated by the city's watercolor artists, he decided continue studies at the Carlos Baca Flor Art School, while also participating in different group exhibitions such as the Center Chávez de la Rosa Cultural Center, French Alliance Cultural Center, Center cultural White House.
Three years later he returned to Lima with the intention to resume painting at ENSABAP, that same year (2019) he made his first presentations “Between redheads, jesters and crazy people” in Más Arte Galería. He then nurtured his vision of painting with a short trip to Spain, returned to Lima and reactivated his studies where he painted excessively.
Between 2019 and 2022, he participated in various group exhibitions in spaces such as Más Artes Galería, Laboratory Art Space, ICPNA Cultural, Casacor, and in 2023 held his first solo exhibition “FIGURATIONS IN SUSPENSION, dialogues from the everyday life and silence” at the Ccori Wasi Cultural Center, Lima. That same year he held a second solo exhibition at the FORUM Gallery, titled “THE SILENCE OF AN IMAGINARY HOUSE.”
The painting of Kevin de Lao focuses on psychological and psychiatric issues, as well as tells us about the absence from everyday life. Much of his work from 2018 to now belongs to private collections (nationally and internationally). Currently he dedicates himself entirely to painting. Kevin lives and works in Lima.
